Kambwili

Patriotic Front deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri this morning said she would not respond to Chishimba Kambwili’s attacks because he is her brother on 5Fm’s Burning Issue.

And about an hour after the programme ended, Kambwili posted an apology on his Facebook page saying he was “caught up in the moment”.

At a press briefing yesterday, the expelled Roan PF member of parliament said he was shocked that Phiri was boasting that she was married to a wealthy man when he used to buy toilet tissue for her.

But when asked to react, Phiri said her 20-year-old daughter advised her not to respond to Kambwili because the two families enjoyed a close relationship.

“Honorable Chishimba Kambwili is my brother I wish you listened when I was on the other program on radio two days ago. Our children are friends you can imagine what my daughter was talking to me I hear he was on radio I didn’t listen you can see the way I am dressed I am going for a burial of my family friend. That’s when my daughter talked to me and said ‘we heard uncle Kambwili said some things about you on the radio and mum please don’t respond to him. Whatever you are doing you should remember we are family and don’t damage our relationship’ you can imagine this is a 20-year-old girl telling me that and this is a very good friend to Honorable Kambwili’s last children. And that is why in the beginning I said some things are not worth responding to otherwise for me he is my brother and I still stick to what I have said that when we are in these positions if I see a wrong I should emulate Levy Mwanawasa to resign than to start condemning when I am tired I think it is not right,” said Phiri.

And Kambwili posted the apology below after Phiri’s interview was concluded:

I would like to unreservedly apologise to my sister and friend Hon Mumbi Phiri for my sensitments yesterday. To error is human and to apologise is devine. I exceeded the mark with what I said and it was wrong of me, it was a spare of the moment thing and I would like to retract that statement.

After reflecting on my statements I say sorry and kindly forgive me for what I had said about you. I have nothing whatsoever against you and that was too harsh of me. I got caught up in the moment so to speak, kindly find it in your heart to forgive me for my wrong doings.

Thank you.

  1. I thank and praise you our dear sister Mumbi Phiri for not responding to Honourable Chishimba Kambwili ‘s outbursts and demeaning statements. Sometimes keeping quiet is a sign of maturity and good leadership. Honourable Chishimba Kambwili your hot temper and anger is slowly destroying your reputation. How many times will you be apologising to people you have been offending?

  2. Ba Mudala. It had to take a 20 year old child to make you see sense. Ba Kambwili you are on a self distraction path. Just recently you were apologizing to the southerners only after being FIRED. Just yesterday you were again insulting one of the great leaders Zambian has ever had, LEVY PATRICK MWANAWASA (MHSRIP). You called him a coward from resigning from a corrupt government. You reasoning in that head of yours baffles a lot of level headed Zambians. Levy did a noble and rare thing to resign as Vice President and we will always remember him for that. Those who are cheering for your actions are not you friends. They in it for their selfishness. The likes of Mumbi Phiri are your true friends. I would say more but end up here.

  3. Kambwili shows he is more of a man than evil Lungu by apologising for his spat of the moment against Mumbi phiri. Lungu did a lot of evil to HH and mwaliteta but because he is an evil man he has never apologised. Lungu is the most evil man the nation has to get rid of.

  4. I never knew what it means when they say… Be quick to hear and slow to speak. Until I heard chishimba kambwili apologizing to Mumbai phiri. I’m now loosing interest in this man.

  5. My heart goes out to Mrs .Mumbi Phiri…and I urge her to really forgive Kambwili.Find it in your heart to forgive this lost soul…not that I support the rot going on but I think he got too personal. I mean even the help he rendered to buy you groceries when you were in need is nothing but a show off. What he said was not politics but personal. The man is so bitter to have been dropped from stealing.
Anyway mayo mu cibemba tutila ati umuto walupwa tawitika.

  6. Some of words leader’s use does not show leadership in them ,pipo want to hear fact’s issues from them it is a dispointed move by Mr kambwili. Am sorry if sir my reaction toward this issue it may offend you. Stay blessed

  7. A late comment :, There’s an adage which says “Charity Begins At Home : This is exactly what comes out when we grow old , and time tells the story of our upbringing ! ( song by Jimmy Cliff , “Time Will Tell ” )::Our upbringing matters a lot. Most of these actors , clowns , scoundrels we see and hear , simply depict their miserable and mediocre family upbringing ? Mediocrity follows them in the later days of their lives ! It’s a sad phenomena, coz they know not what it is they should do right . Help us all Lord .
