The President of the United Party Development (UPND)  yesterday morning attended mass at St Joseph Mukuni Parish in Livingstone.

This was after an invitation from the Church and Mr. Hichilema calls on the country to praise the Lord, God, Almighty in words, actions and truth.

Mr. Hichilema as a firm believer calls on everyone to always look to the cross and call on God through his Son, Jesus Christ whenever turbulences befall the nation.

The UPND Leader also appreciates that the Church has continued to speak for the voiceless, even amidst extreme difficulties in the Country.

“I am well aware of how it is difficult for the Church to speak about injustices in our country but at the same time, I am extremely confident that the Church in our country has continued siding with the oppressed and less privileged,” Mr. Hichilema said.

Mr Hichilema who was accompanied by the MMD Leader, Dr Nevers Mumba, UPND party Vice President Dr Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, party Secretary General Stephen Katuka, Former First Lady, Dr Maureen Mwanawasa, Members of Parliament and several senior party officials also emphasised that not praising, worshiping the Lord, God, Almighty, through words, actions and truth is typical hypocrisy.

Several Traditional leaders also attended the mass which was presided over by Bishop Valentine Kalumba.

“As Hakainde Hichilema, I want to call on the Nation, like I have done always, that please let us praise and worship our Lord, God, Almighty, both in words and actions, because without these two components, the country may be said to have hypocrites,” stated Mr Hichilema.

And Mr Hichilema as a committed Christian, holds the Church so dear to his heart while reiterating his call that the Church must work together to unite the Country.

“Clearly, the Church has held our country together and when there is a wrong, the Church speaks and I pray that the Church continues to do so, injustices have to end in our country, together with the Church we must work to help the less privileged while preaching the gospel,” Mr. Hichilema emphasised.

And in his message to the congregants, Bishop Kalumba emphasised on the need of oneness and love for one another as the Bible teaches.

The Bishop also encouraged the congregants not to give up on their hope for a better tomorrow as he emphasised that, God, Almighty, always rewards those who work hard with faith.

Bishop Kalumba also encouraged the congregants not to fear anything as they work to praise the Lord, God, Almighty, while stating that citizens must only fear God.
