SIX people have sustained serious injuries while 53 others after a Zambia -Malawi bus registration number 1972 overturned at Chitemalesa area on the Great East Road today.
Police said the accident happened after the said bus which was being driven by Kombe Kalonga of Lusaka failed to negotiate a curve due to excessive speed and overturned around 05:30 hours today.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo in a statement said out of the 62 passengers that were on board, 53 suffered slight injuries and we’re being treated at Chongwe Hospital while six sustained serious injuries.
“Of the seriously injured three were rushed to UTH and another three to Levy Mwanawasa Hospital. No death was recorded ,” Katongo said.
