Patrick Mucheleka

EDGAR Lungu has killed our ‘One Zambia One Nation’ motto and it is up to us Zambians to stand up in unity and speak out, says Patrick Mucheleka.

And Mucheleka says Mumbi Phiri’s insults against former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo have President Lungu and the PF’s full blessings.
In an interview, Mucheleka, who expressed shock at President Lungu’s negative utterances over the ‘One Zambia One Nation’ motto, said the Head of State’s continued use of the selective and tribal approach in dealing with issues of national interest were enough indication that he had killed the country’s unity and democracy.

It is Lungu who has killed the ‘One Zambia One Nation’ motto because he is the one who is even on record of saying the motto is dead. He is the Head of State and he knows he can bring all these things causing tension in the country to an end because the buck stops entirely at him. He is the one that has been using selective approaches in dealing with issues of national interest to a point where cadres in his own political party, including himself, are the ones who are preaching tribalism, trying to divide people on the basis of ethnicity,

Mucheleka (left) said.
“And as the case is, you see how they have failed to run the economy! The economy is in a shambles; they have failed to run it. Go anywhere, they had promised to make jobs for the youths, but they have lamentably failed and so the only weapon they are using is tribalism to appeal to other people to be doing politics based on ethnicity or tribalism. But it’s good that Zambians are able to now know that the person who has divided this country is President Lungu himself.”
He said he was disappointed that the Head of State, who was abusing the police, had continued to embarrass himself to the world because of Hakainde Hichilema’s continued incarceration.
“If you have been following what has been happening in the international arena, within Africa, there are leaders that have spoken, including President Zuma himself. President Zuma is on record talking about a dictator on the continent, an angry dictator, a President who orders the police to arrest his political opponents and I am sure everybody knows that was a reference to Edgar Lungu. A lot of political figures on the continent have spoken on the dictatorship that has taken root in Zambia,” Mucheleka, who once served as Lubansenshi independent member of parliament said.
And Mucheleka said Mumbi Phiri’s insults on Obasanjo had the full blessings of President Lungu and the PF.

And it is so disheartening that Mumbi Phiri can even have the audacity to insult president Olusegun Obasanjo and Lungu keeps quiet and that is how these fellows have embarrassed this great nation of Zambia. We made serious strides in terms of trying to attain our democracy, but these fellows, the PF, they are actually reversing the gains that we have made over the years. We have become a laughing stock because clearly, we are under a dictatorship and it is up to the Zambian people to stand up and speak out,

added Mucheleka.
“Let not Lungu or anyone in PF threaten us. Some of us have always stood on the side of justice under very difficult conditions. We need to overcome this storm. It is just a matter of time. The PF do not have what it takes to even continue holding on to power beyond 2021 because they have lamentably failed.”
