Our Facebook page version was ousted on Wednesday and it is still down. In the meantime, a lot of fake imitations have sprung up purporting to be the ‘original ZWD’, ‘ZWD two’ etc. None of those imitations is authentic. You know the Zambian Watchdog when you see it and do not need to guess, wonder or even ask others if it’s the one. For now, our Facebook page is offline. The Zambian Watchdog has become the second victim of President Edgar Lungu’s viciousness towards independent media. The first online media to be closed was the Zambian Accurate and Balanced News which was shut down with 125,000 likes in August last month after it reviewed how the PF was rigging the elections and bribing constitutional judges.
The Mighty Zambian Watchdog was closed on Wednesday with about 470,000 likes.
Be informed that in Zambia, there are about 100 online news media, but out of that only two supported the UPND 100%, that is the Mighty Zambian Watchdog (470,000 likes) and the Zambian Accurate and Balanced News (125,000 likes). Both have now been closed down by the power hungry Edgar Lungu.
But after failing to have their original page restored, the Zambian Accurate and Balanced News have now opened a new page starting from square one.
