MMD National Secretary, Raphael Nakacinda says he has no intention of vacating the party secretariat advising those calling for his eviction to undertake an introspection. He also says Felix Mutati is the legal MMD President.

Mr. Nakacinda adds that the Felix Mutati led team is on firm grounds to oversee the operations of the former ruling party.

He clarified the correct legal position of MMD leadership is that the national executive committee (NEC) which was elected at the last extra ordinary convention in Kabwe in May, 2016 was headed by Mr. Mutati who is party president.

Mr. Nakacinda says the committee has no intentions of abrogating either the former ruling party’s or national constitution because it strongly believes in democracy and rule of law.

He adds that the Registrar of societies has already ascertained the office bearers of the party.

Mr. Nakacinda was reacting to a request by Elizabeth Chitika for him to vacant the MMD secretariat.

He was speaking in an interview with Muvi TV News in Lusaka.

Dr. Nevers Mumba and team, who have insisted on being the legitimate office bearers of the MMD were ousted on May, 20 by the Felix Mutati committee when the party held a Convention in Kabwe in 2016 but the charismatic preacher-turned-politician has refused to recognise the outcome of that meeting.
