The case in which National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party leader Dr. Chishimba Kambwili and his company Mwamona Engineering has been dragged to court has been adjourned to July 18th and 1st August 2019 for continued trial.
When the matter came up this morning in the Lusaka magistrate court, the state called to the stand two witnesses.
The first wittiness being PW5 a Mr. Brian Chongo Kambole aged 48years, residing at plot number 31162 golf field Chalala in Lusaka, a procurement officer at Zesco limited.
The second witness PW6 a Mrs. Chibatabata Nalishebo Aged 46 years, residing at house number 120 lumumba road Luanshya,a bank manager at Atlas Mara in Luanshya.
The first witness from Zesco explained how Mwamona was legitimately awarded the contract. He further explained how authentic all documents Mwamona Engineering submitted during the tender process.
The second witness from Altlas Mara bank explained that Mwamona accounts at the bank were opened with valid documents.
Both witnesses were cross examined by Dr.Kambwili’s lawyers Keith Mweemba and Christopher Mundia.
On cross examination, both witnesses separately testified that all payments made to MWAMONA ENGINEERING were “clean” as the sources had documentary evidence to qualify the payments.
The state had no re-examination of the witnesses but asked for an adjournment to prepare their next witnesses.
Dr. Kambwili was accompanied to court by National Democratic Congress Party Secretary General Bridget Atanga, MCC Kaonga, MCC Gilbert B. Musonda, Lusaka provincial chairman Kennedy Seyanda his private secretary Fabian Mutale, his aide-de-camp Christopher Kangwa, NDC Media Director Emmanuel Malite, lusaka province IPS Kidson Katunta and other NDC Lusaka officials.
His Son Mwamba Kambwili was also at court with Mwamona Director Famous Kabwe.
Scores of NDC members and sympathisers were at court to offer solidarity to the NDC leader.
