ANOTHER TWO (2) LUSAKA RESIDENTS ARRESTED FOR EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE
The Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) can confirm that two people from Lusaka’s Chawama Township were arrested and detained for conniving during the 2019 GCE Examination.
Facts of the matter are that 36-year-old Lungu Chimangen who is believed to be a Driver at the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) connived with 25-year-old Cosmas Phiri a Teacher at Green Carpet Private School of Chawama to sit for the 2019 GCE Examinations on his behalf. Both suspects and residents of Lusaka’s Chawama Township.
Details gathered so far indicate that Lungu Chimangen registered to sit for four (4) subjects during the 2019 GCE Examinations but instead paid Cosmas Phiri a sum of Six Thousand Kwacha (6,000.00) as down payment from an agreed sum total of Eight Thousand Kwacha (8,000.00) between November 2018 and June 2019 to allow him sit for Examinations on his behalf. Cosmas Phiri was arrested on 31st July 2019 during the Civic Education Paper 1 Examination at Mwembeshi Secondary School when a team of Examinations Council of Zambia Officers went to inspect the conduct of the Examination at the school while Lungu Chimangen was arrested today 6th August 2019 in Chawama by the Police.
The two (2) suspects are in police custody and will appear in court soon.
As ECZ, we remain firm in defending and upholding the credibility of our education system by combating any attempts with potential to disrepute the Zambia school qualifications.
