The British government has given Zambia about K16 million through the United Nations Development Programme –UNDP- to directly support the august general elections.

Addressing the media at his residence in Lusaka this morning, British High Commissioner to Zambia Nicholas Woolley says the support is meant to strengthen Zambia’s democracy through the promotion of inclusive, credible, free and fair elections.

Mr. Woolley says the UK as an advocate for Zambian democracy will continue to support the institutions and the people of Zambia in efforts to hold elections that credibly reflect the will of the Zambian people.

The British envoy has also stressed on the need for violence free campaigns in the run up to the august general elections.
