An employee of the Eastern Water and Sewerage Company in Katete this morning committed suicide by hanging himself to a mango tree located in his yard after discovering his HIV positive status.
A Mphangwe FM Reporter who rushed to the scene found scores of people gathered at the Old Police Camp located near Katete Boma Market trying to get a glimpse of the body of Justin Nkhoma who was working as a Plumber.
Mr Nkhoma is said to have used a mosquito net rope to hang himself.
When police arrived at the scene they collected the body and deposited it at St Francis Mission hospital mortuary.
And in another case, a 55 year old man of Nyanje village in Sinda district died on Friday after drowning in a well just on the outskirts of the village.
The deceased’s relatives told Mphangwe FM in an interview that Mathews Mwale was drinking beer with his friends from morning up to about 12:00 hours when he left his friends.
Mathews’ elder brother, Thomas Mwale, explained that as a family they did not suspect any foul play but believed their relative could have been trying to drink water by scooping from the well but ended up losing balance and fell into the water.
Mathews was buried at the village on Saturday after Sinda Police gave a go ahead as they did not suspect any foul play over the matter.
