THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set July 30, as the date for Katuba Constituency parliamentary by-election.
The seat fell vacant following the death of Area Member of Parliament, Patricia Mwashingwele who died after an illness on May 2.
Mwashingwelwe won seat on the UPND ticket in 2016. In the statement to the media, ECZ Public Relations Manager, Margaret Chimese said the same date, ECZ will conduct 6 other local government by-election.
“Notice is hereby given to the general public that the Electoral Commission of Zambia has prescribed Tuesday 30th July 2019 as the date on which to hold the Parliamentary and Local Government by-elections in Katuba Constituency of Chibombo District.
On the same date, the Commission will also conduct six (6) Local Government by-elections in Lubwa Ward of Kitwe District, Lungwishi Ward of Mansa District, Mayembe Ward of Shiwang’ándu District, Mangango, Shitwa and Kanabilumbu Wards of Kaoma District.
The polls will take place from 06:00 hours to 18:00 hours,” read the statement.
