FAZ president Andrew Kamanga yesterday, Sunday visited hospitalized female FIFA referee Leah Namukonda at the Ndola Central Teaching Hospital.
Namukonda of Luanshya was last evening involved in a road traffic accident within Luanshya.
Earlier on Saturday, she was the fourth official at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium during the final Super Division fixture between Buildcon and Power Dynamos won 1-0 by the Kitwe giants.
Reports say her car was hit into in Luanshya causing the referee to suffer serious injuries.
Namukonda was evacuated to Ndola and is admitted in the ICU.
Earlier, the National Olympics Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), for whom Namukonda is a board member, called on the sports fraternity to visit and pray for Namukonda.
“NOCZ Boardmember Leah Namukonda was involved in the road accident in Luanshya and she is injured. She is admitted in Ndola Central hospital. Remember her in your prayer and find time to visit her,” NOCZ posted.
And the FAZ president visited Namukonda today and reiterated the NOCZ’s call for prayer for the FIFA referee as doctors battle to stabilise her in the ICU.
Please, wish her quick recovery.
