FIVE ARRESTED ON THE COPPERBELT FOR IMPERSONATING OFFCERS FROM KAMFISA PRISON

Copperbelt commissioner of police Elias Chushi said in a statement today that the five who were clad in Correctional Service uniforms were arrested at ACC mining company where they had gone to fundraise on pretext that they had been sent to raise transport money for ex-convicts that had been released.

“ Without knowing the Director at the Company immediately contacted Kanfinsa Correctional Facility command to inquire about the group that was organizing the monies to which they denied and sent officers to apprehend the suspected criminals,’’ Mr Chushi said.

Mr Chushi has since identified the suspects of Kitwe as Connelious Mutale 32, of house number two Bupe teachers compound, Boniface Mwape 56, of house number 5640 Mulenga overspill, John Musonda 40, of Copperbelt University teachers’ compound, Haggai Matanda 30, of unmarked house in Chamboli township and Misheck Bwalya 28, of house number PP 50 Wusakile township.

The suspects were using a Toyota Corolla registration ADC 3850, silver in colour.

The incident occurred at 15:30 hours on June 1, this year and police are still investigating the matter.
