FOTHERGILL ISLAND.
I guess this name sounds foreign to many Zimbabweans. Alot would think it’s an Island in Europe or the Caribbeans. Alas its an island in Zimbabwe.
Your geography teacher never taught you about it? I will confess I also only got to know about it afew years ago. 18 months ago to be exact. In my last post I spoke about how to get information. Most entrepreneurs are not journalists that would go around broadcasting details about their business. They deliberately hide important information and feed you with garbage.
FOTHERGILL island is an island in the Kariba Dam. The island recently held the SADC air show.
Yes an air show in Zimbabwe. During this lockdown. I had an opportunity to attend the event. And to my surprise non of all the so called mbingas of Zimbabwe were in attendance. Its the first time I got to see the real mbingas of Zimbabwe. Until this day I didn’t know there was so many private jets in Zimbabwe. Little did I know also that there is a huge number of Zimbabweans who own private jets. Yes because all we are told of is corruption, bad governance and poverty.
Little did I know that Zimbabwe is also a richmans playground. The event attracted participants from all over southern Africa. I came to a conclusion that Zimbabwe is a mixed basket. You chose what you want and which side you want to belong to.
As Zimbabweans we don’t even know our country and the wealth that its carrying. We have been told and we believed we are poor. Of all the musicians in Zimbabwe non has ever sang about this beautiful island. We don’t even have a single movie shot from this island. Of all the mbingas I saw there, I have never had any song about these mbingas. The reason being they live an exclusive and quiet life. They mind their business. They don’t go around popping champagne like the fake mbingas we all know and follow on social media.
