FOUR RESIDENTS OF NALIKWANDA PERISH AFTER VEHICLE THEY WERE IN FELL INTO RIVER FROM BRIDGE

….Mongu Mayor visits the accident scene

His Worship, the Mayor of Mongu Mr Matakala Nyambe this morning visited the accident scene of four people who died after their vehicle failed to cross a bridge and fell into Luyi river in Nalikwanda constituency.

The four that have perished include Liande Primary School Headteacher Mr Mundia Matakala and three other residents of Nalikwanda.

Three children and the driver survived the accident and they have since been treated at a Health facility.

According to eye witnesses, the accident occurred between 05 and 06:00 hrs today and that the vehicle was traveling from Mongu town. By press time, the four bodies had been retrieved from the river but the vehicle was still submerged.

The Mayor has appealed to the contractor constructing the bridge to go back on site and do a proper job before many lives are lost.

He has conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families.

The Mayor was in the company of West Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr Mukwambuyu Katungu, Acting District Commissioner Mr Enerst Mwanag’ombe, the District Education Board Secretary Ms Ireen Lisimba and other government officials.
