IN A NUTSHELL, GARRY DOMINGO ASSURES VENDORS BETTER SERVICE DELIVERY ONCE ELECTED AS MAYOR OF KABWE.
Our mothers and fathers in the vending business are very cardinal like any other Zambian because they are part of society.
One of the issues that leave my mental faculty startled is the fact that our street traders are trading under pathetic and unhygienic conditions regardless of the fact that they pay k3 a day. Where does this money go? In every 1000 street vendors, the council collects k3000 per day and k90,000 per month.
The UPND is founded on strong principles of transparency and accountability hence we will make separate accounts for each market so that this money will be properly accounted for, put to good use and ultimately improve the trading places and trading conditions for our traders not trading in the mud/ water during the rain season.
We will engage Zambia railways to help us with barriers which we will erect near the trading places to protect our traders from unforeseen car tragedies.
There is an urgent need of a vendors desk by the councill where traders will be interacting with us on some of the challenges they are facing hence our work will be easier and well informed. These are just a few of our long list of activities we intend to put across in order to improve our service delivery.
