Heavily armed police officers have surrounded the Supreme Court in Lusaka, ahead of the constitutional Court landmark judgement on whether or not President Edgar Lungu is eligible to contest as president in 2021.
In this case, four opposition party leaders petitioned the ConCourt to determine whether president Lungu could stand in the next election.
The four are Danny Pule of the Christian Democratic Party, Wright Musoma from Zambia Republican Party, Peter Chanda of the New Congress Party and Robert Mwanza from the Citizen Democratic Party.
And the Ruling PF says the party will not be stranded if the court declares President Edgar Lungu ineligible to stand for presidency in 2021 general elections.
Speaking to Kwacha Times in an exclusive interview on Friday, PF Deputy Secretary General, Mumbi Phiri says the party is ready for any outcome.
And Governance, Elections, Advocacy and Research Services Executive Director, McDonald Chipenzi says this is a defining moment in as far as the role of the court in interpreting the constitution is concerned – KT
