UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived safely in Cape Town, South Africa to attend the 25th Mining Indaba.
This is the largest mining indaba in the world, governments, investors and high profile business leaders meet. SA President Cyril Ramaphosa and Ghanaian President Nana Akuffo-Addo will give keynote addresses.
And Yona Musukwa a Commentator has described the trip as a major step towards development.
“I find this very important and I am always advocating for this kind of politics in our political parties because it’s a sure way of being ready to govern.
Such platforms and interactions with captains of industries will help our political parties formulate progressive policies and understand and appreciate the need for win-win partnerships betwen government and business.
In many instances our political parties are lost in terms of what is to be done, and reactionary when it comes to policies. That’s why, from 2000 to 2019, Zambia’s tax regime has been adjusted for more than 9 times, going back and forth. This is total confusion, if not confused.
Our political parties should be ready to govern to avoid chipantepante while in government.”
