Republican President Edgar Lungu said he is like a coach to his government who is allowed to make substitutions in order to get the required results.
President Lungu was saying this during the Swearing in Ceremony of the newly appointed Finance Minister, Bwalya Ng’andu who replaced Margaret Mwanakatwe.
And President Lungu has tasked Dr Ng’andu with supervising and spearheading the management of Debt in the country. The head of state also asked Dr Ng’andu to work with all departments in government and ministries.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ng’andu has revealed that he received a direct call from President Lungu, adding that he initially thought it was a prank .
“I got a phone call yesterday when I was preparing to go to church, when I picked up, the president said this is President Lungu, I thought it was a prank but when I listened carefully it sounded like him, he asked to see me and I came to State House, he offered me the job and I gladly accepted it.”
Dr. Bwalya Ng’andu is a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics candidate. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Psychology from Cranfield University, UK and a M.Sc. in Ergonomics from The University of London as well as a BA in Psychology and Business from the University of Zambia. Dr. Ng’andu is a Zambian Rhodes Scholar. He holds professional qualifications in a number of institutions, including: Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK; Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services, Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Human Resources as well as a representative of the Zambia stock exchange.
