Another night in police custody for president of the deregistered opposition NDC Chishimba Kambwili.
And opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema (HH) has called for the immediate release of Kambwili.
Kambwili was arrested, charged with defamation of the President and detained at Lusaka Central Police station on August 28, 2019.
The Police refused to give Kambwili a bond and the law demands that he should have been taken to court today.
He was not and by press time he was still in custody. This means Kambwili can only be saved by the court when he appears in court and applies for a bail.
Leader of a small opposition party called PeP Sean Tembo today said the Police intends to keep Kambwili in custody until next week.
Tembo who condemned the arrest and detaining of Kambwili said this when he visited the former at Central Police station where he is being held.
And Hichilema (HH) who also visited Kambwili called for his release immediately.
HH said Police should present Kambwili to court so he can apply for a bail as provided in the constitution.
He told Journalists after seeing Kambwili that the police officers were scared of the PF to give Kambwili a police bond
