Murder convict Keith Mukata has asked the Court of Appeal to acquit him of murder for lack of evidence linking him to the death of his security guard.

The former Chilanga parliamentarian who was sentenced to death by hanging until pronounced dead appealed both his conviction and sentence.

Mukata who is being represented by five lawyers who include: Mutemwa Mutemwa, Kasumpa Kabalata, Milner Katolo, Keith Mweemba and Wilis Muhanga told the court that the High Court judge erred by admitting evidence which was not on record which lead to his conviction and sentence.

The lawyers further state that there was no medical confirmation by postmortem to suggest whether the deceased died as a result of the gunshot wound as the pathologist did not touch on the cause of death but only gave evidence on the size of the wound.
