KITWE GOLFER DIES ON MAZABUKA GOLF CLUB COURSE
A Kitwe based Golfer, Gerald Litchie has collapsed and died on the course in Mazabuka after teeing off during the Musikili Open Golf Tournament Saturday mornig.
Mazabuka Golf Club Captain, Muhammad Bhagoo (in picture) has confirmed the death in an exclusive interview with Byta FM News and says the late player showed no signs of illness and was in high moods.
Bhagoo assumes the golfer, an employee of Bell Equipment suffered a heart attack on the golf course before he suddenly died.
He adds that the organizers and Mazabuka Golf Club called a doctor from Victoria Hospital where his remains were taken in readiness for ferrying to Kitwe.
Bhagoo further narrated that the golfer’s wife said his wish was to die doing what he loves most – with golf being his favourite sport.
Christopher Simutowe, an eye witness who was playing with the late golfer has told Byta FM News that no one saw his death coming as the participant was in high mood and was joking with everyone.
Simutowe, a member of the Mazabuka Golf Club explains that his group of players abandoned their game after the incident, although the tournament resumed later.
