The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in Southern Province has dismissed a story suggesting that a Namwala Veterinary Officer has died after participating in the slaughter of animals in Macha recently.
Provincial Livestock and Fisheries Coordinator, Charles Lwaanga has told Byta FM News that Charles Sinkende (pictured), the Namwala Vet officer named in the story had nothing to do with the Macha animal slaughter.
Lwanga explains that Sinkende was until his demise working in Namwala, a different district from Choma where the slaughter of animals took place.
In addition, Lwanga clarifies that the late was a Veterinary Assistant and had no jurisdiction on slaughtering animals because he was too junior.
Meanwhile Namwala Member of Parliament, Moono Lubezhi has told Byta FM News that Sinkende died after being involved in a motorbike accident recently.
Lubezhi has dispelled the story making rounds on social media terming it false and unfortunate.
