LUNGU CALLS JAY JAY TO STATE HOUSE TO DISSUADE HIM FROM RUNNING AS INDEPENDENT
President Edgar Lungu has summoned Emmanuel Banda, popularly known as Jay Jay to State House to dissuade him from running as an independent candidate against Information minister Dora Siliya in Petauke-Central.
Banda who was left out in favour of Siliya is reported to have received phone calls from several opposition political parties and has also entertained thoughts of running as an independent, having been frustrated that the party picked his nemesis Siliya, despite him enjoying overwhelming popularity over her in Petauke-Central.
Sources told Daily Revelation that the President is reportedly fearful having Banda running against Siliya, and also on the possibility of being attracted to run on opposition tickets.
One of the messages posted to his status today, read: “James was rejected by his football ⚽️ team coach in America. Surprisingly he was sold to United Kingdom where he performed very well and became a super star ”
President Lungu is also said to he fearful at having former Kitwe district commissioner Binwell Mpundu run as an independent or on another ticket after he was left out in favour of Alexander Chiteme. Same applies with Kalulushi mayor Rashida Mulenga who was left out in favour of Kampamba Mulenga.
Sources said meetings have been earmarked to meet them to persuade them against running. Other meetings have been arranged with the party leadership include meeting with the paramount chief of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province, Mpezeni over his misgivings against some candidates adopted in Eastern Province. – Daily Revelation
