The Constitutional Court is today expected to deliver judgement in a matter in which three petitioners are challenging the nomination of President Edgar Lungu.

The Petitioners are Legal Resources Foundation, Chapter One Foundation and Sishuwa Sishuwa.

During the last hearing on Monday this week, Attorney General Likando Kalaluka urged the Constitutional Court to dismiss the Petition with costs.

Kalaluka said the Petitioners have failed to convince the court to change its decision on the eligibility of President Lungu. And lawyer Eric Silwamba said the issue of eligibility was conclusively settled.

But petitioners’ Lawyer John Sangwa said no one should be stopped from taking any matter to court even if the court has already dealt with the issue.

And Lusaka Lawyer Sakwiba Sikota said the court should condemn the petitioners with costs.

Sikota said this is because the petitioners are aware that the matter they brought was dealt with twice by the same court. -znbc
