LUNGU SENDS STATE HOUSE OFFICIALS TO ASSUAGE MPEZENI’S ANGER OVER ADOPTIONS

By Staff Reporter

President Edgar Lungu has sent a high level delegation from State House seeking to mend fences with the paramount chief of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province, Mpezeni after he was angered that the candidates the ruling party adopted were not to his liking.

Well placed sources told Daily Revelation that Fully Msimuko, (twin brother to State House senior private secretary Flatela Msimuko), led a four-man delegation today to see Mpezeni, and the helicopter they used landed at Feni School grounds around 10:30 hours earlier this morning.

“The team was sent to see Mpezeni after he was angered with the adoptions of candidates, particularly in Chipata-Central, Kasenengwa and Luangeni where his favoured candidates including Zindaba Soko and Moses Moyo were overlooked in favour of Amon Jere and Patricia Mpanza,” sources said. “Actually State House has learnt that Zindaba Soko is entertaining running as an independent with the support of Mpezeni in Chipata-Central against the PF candidate Amon Jere.”

Sources said State House wanted to mend issues with Mpezeni, as he has come out full throttle in support of the President and the PF, and is being used extensively in Eastern Province, as well as reaching out to the other chiefs across the country in the ruling party’s campaign strategy.

“Msimuko was actually seen carrying an envelope as they were going to meet the paramount chief. It could be a sweetener to open up whatever discussions and assuage the anger in the paramount chief,” sources said.

When contacted for comment, Mpezeni despite taking the call, refused to say anything over the matter, and instead cut the line.

However, last week Mpezeni told Daily Revelation that the candidates the ruling party had adopted were not favoured by the people in the area. – Daily Revelation
