Like a typical Shaka Zulu movie with drums beating the sound of Mbombo returning to Nkana FC was greeted with Cheers in Kitwe, Zambia.
The Congolese striker scored 26 goals in all competitions for Aba Red in the 2018 season before he made a surprising switch to Al Hilal in November abruptly ending his loan spell at Aba Red without even playing the Barclays Cup final which Nkana eventually won.
The 26 goals in all competitions however made him the highest scorer in a season for Nkana since the 1990s.
Mbombo’s move to Al Hilal was a mixed basket with one of the highlights being a breathtaking overhead kick he scored against Nkana Fc in the Caf Confederations Cup Group Stage as the Sudanese Giants demolished Nkana FC 4-1 in Khartoum.
With the Sudanese league suspended due to political instability Mbombo started pushing for a move back to Nkana FC which has eventually paid off.
Everything looks to have been settled and Mbombo has signed a 2 year contract with Nkana which will keep him at the club until 2021
