EXAMINATION papers and answer sheets for Mulungushi University have been burnt to ashes at the Northern Technical College (NORTEC) in Ndola.
And Mulungushi students protested today upon learning that their answer sheets had been burnt to ashes.
More than 300 students are affected by the incident and those that were supposed to sit their examinations today have not done so.
A check at NORTEC found the students wandering about, not knowing what to do.
“We have informed Mulungushi University. We are also waiting for the police because we don’t know what caused the fire. So a report will be given once the police conclude their investigations. We will be advised by the police,” said NORTEC principal Victor Mulenga without giving further details.
And student representative Vienna Kapenda said the students were very disappointed.
“One thing that we advised Mulungushi was that we write from the main campus but they insisted that we write from here [NORTEC]. The consequences are sad. So Mulungushi should just award 40 per cent marks to the students who wrote on Monday and Tuesday. We should be awarded 40 per cent marks. This should be a lesson to the university for them to sustain the credibility of the university,” said Kapenda.
