CHIFUBU PF member of parliament Frank Ng’ambi has pleaded not guilty to one count of causing grievous harm to his wife.
In July this year, the Ndola Magistrate Court committed Ng’ambi to the High Court for trial in a case he is accused to assaulting his wife.
Ng’ambi is charged with acts intended to cause grievous harm.
It is alleged that on June 7, this year, Ng’ambi with intent to maim, disfigure or disable, did cause grievous harm to Agness Ng’ambi, his wife.
When the matter came up yesterday before Ndola High Court judge Yvonne Chembe, Ng’ambi said he understood the charge.
“I understand the charge. I plead not guilty,” Ng’ambi said.
Ng’ambi is represented by three lawyers in this matter.
Judge Chembe adjourned the matter to September 17, 2019 for possible commencement of trial.
Earlier, during the opening of the criminal session, Kanseshi Correctional Facility deputy officer in charge Amos Musonda said Copperbelt had 4,725 inmates as at 06:00 hours yesterday.
