PLAYERS, AGENTS SWINDLED FOR SENDING MONEY TO FAKE MWENYA CHIPEPO FACEBOOK ACCOUNT

CON artists on Facebook have swindled players and agents money using Indeni FC On The Ball coach Mwenya Chipepo’s name claiming that he can connect them to clubs upon making payment.

Chipepo discovered the scam after receiving consistent phone calls from different people all demanding to close the deals they made with him on Facebook.

The calls caught Chipepo by surprise and when he checked on Facebook, he discovered that unknown people were using an account under his name and had been making deals with upcoming players and agents promising them to find them clubs at undisclosed fee.

“Apparently, this has been happening for about two to three months now. I have been explaining to different people that the person they sent money to was not me but thieves on social media. I reported the matter to the police but no arrest has been made yet. What they are doing is after discussing on Facebook, they give them mobile numbers to deposit the money or to call but once the transaction is done, the number either stops responding or gets unreachable,” Chipepo said.

The fake Facebook account has a profile picture of Chipepo in a sitting position wearing a blue cap and a red Indeni away shirt with a cover photo of a religious quote next to a kneeling man saying “God has something for you: A key for every problem, a light for every shadow, a relief for every sorrow and a great plan every tomorrow,”

Chipepo feared that his name would be dented if the con artists continued to use the same tricks to swindle players and agents.
