University of Zambia Political Historian, Professor, Bizeck Phiri says it is too soon to predict who will emerge winner in the 2021 general elections due to the dynamic nature of politics.
And Professor Phiri says unless the PF government takes drastic measures to address issues highlighted in the recently released Economist Intelligence Unit report, the PF will exit power.
A survey released by the UK based Economist Intelligence Unit expects President Edgar Lungu to remain in power beyond 2021, but warns that the government will become increasingly unpopular due to economic mismanagement and deepening autocracy.
Speaking when he featured on the Phoenix FM Breakfast show’s “The Pulse” to discuss the EIU’s findings, Professor Phiri says government should take the survey seriously and deal with challenges that the economy and Zambians are facing if the pf is to win in 2021.
A key member of the Economist Group, the Economist Intelligence Unit is a specialist publisher for 60 years and has proved to be a reliable source of information on business developments, economic and political trends, government regulations and corporate practice worldwide.
Meanwhile on Monday this week, the Patriotic Front has castigated opposition political parties that are rubbishing the recently released economist intelligence unit which indicates that president Edgar lungu will remain in power beyond 2021.
In responding to those rubbishing the report, PF Member of the media team Benjamin Siwila explains that the party believes the opinions of the EIU is purely on what it is doing in fulfilling on its campaign messages which gives them hope for 2021.
Mr Siwila says the fact that the PF is living its manifesto is evident enough that no opposition party will be a threat come 2021 as most of the infrastructure development will be completed by 2021 and the economy will improve.
He told Phoenix News that the opposition should instead concentrate on improving their party manifestos unlike rubbishing everything the pf is doing
