SDA CHURCH STATEMENT REFUTING THE STATEMENT TITLED “SDA CHURCH SADDENED BY MR. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’S WAY OF DOING POLITICS.

On May 8, 2021, an online news outlet Opera News published the article originated from Mwebanta.com under a headline, “SDA CHURCH SADDENED BY MR. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’S WAY OF DOING POLITICS.” As a Church, we wish to categorically and emphatically make it clear to all and sundry that Dr. Harrington Akombwa (Southern Zambia Union Conference president) did not issue the said statement, neither did he at any time speak on phone with someone from Opera News or Mwebantu.com (which appears to be the source of the disputed statement) over the issue and let alone any of the leaders of the SDA church in Zambia. The statement appears to have been issued by some disgruntled elements who are hell bent to rubble rouse and spread propaganda since Mwebantu has denied publishing the said story on its online page.
When contacted, Mwebantu said, “That must be a fake Mwebantu. We have never published anything like that. We can’t take responsibility for anything that is published by another page purporting to be Mwebantu.” We therefore urge all well-meaning persons of all walks of life to ignore the said statement circulating on social media and treat it with utmost disgust and disdain.
We urge the authors of the statement and all media platforms where the statement is published to pull it down with immediate effect as we reserve the right to take any available legal redress. The Church does not involve itself in partisan politics. Its core business is to spread the gospel by directing people to the second coming of Jesus Christ.
