The Tropical Disease Research Center says the second phase of the Sondashi formula is yet to start.
Speaking in an interview with Phoenix News, at the ongoing Copperbelt Expo in Ndola, Center Scientific officer, Innocent Bwalya however said the start of the second phase is dependent on availability of funds from the government.
The first phase of the Sondashi formula research was to assess the safety of the drug whose results revealed that all doses administered to participate were safe.
The Sondashi formula SF 2000, an HIV/AIDS drug founded by Dr. Ludwig Sondashi has in the past made scientific headlines and debates on whether or not the drug can cure aids.
On founding the medicine, Dr. Sondashi had this to say “I founded this medicine in the year 1999, I discovered that the medicine could cure and treat HIV/AIDS diseases, which have affected most of our relatives and friends the World Over. In the year 2003, I handed over the herbal medicine to Dr. Patrick Chikusu (late) of the National Aids Council, who was Chairman of the National Technical Committee, on traditional and alternative remedies, for testing, “end of quote.
The Tropical Diseases Research Centre was initiated by the World Health Organization in collaboration with the Zambian Government.
This was in response to a resolution of the World Health Assembly of 1974 which called for the intensification of research into tropical diseases and stipulated that, as far as possible, the work should be done in developing countries where these diseases are endemic.
