Zambian Champions Zesco United will confirm George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina as coach on Tuesday.
The ZamFoot Crew understands that the veteran former Chipolopolo Boys has already signed a pre-contract and will take over at the end of next month.
Lwandamina’s contract at Tanzanian side Young Africans will expire at the end of May.
“Unless Lwandamina and Yanga have reached an agreement, he will join next month,” a ZamFoot Crew source said on Tuesday
The resignation of Tenant Chembo has caught Zesco United’s executive committee led by new club Secretary Richard Mulenga unaware.
“Things happened so quickly with regards to TC (Tenant Chembo).
“The plan was to have TC up to May before Lwandamina takes over.
With Chembo gone to Buildcon, his former assistant Emmanuel Siwale is expected to be in the dugout on Wednesday as Zesco take on Lusaka Dynamos at Sunset Stadium.
In case, Lwandamina joins in May, then Siwale who worked under him at the FIFA World Youth Championship in Canada will be in charge on the on an interim basis.
Former Zambia and Green Buffaloes winger Noel Mwandila is also expected to be part of the backroom staff at Zega.
Despite having stints with Mufulira Wanderers, Green Buffaloes and Red Arrows, Lwandamina only managed to win the elusive league title during his first stint at Zesco United in 2015.
He also guided them to the semi finals of the CAF Champions League semi finals in 2016.
Zesco United and Zanaco have dominated the MTN Super League have won 13 league titles in the last 16 seasons with the latter boasting 7.
