ZAMBIA shall soon be in safe hands and not these thieving ones of the PF, says NDC vice-president Josephs Akafumba.
And Akafumba says the NDC shall transform the public media into professional entities and not propaganda agents for the ruling party.
In an interview, Akafumba, a former justice permanent secretary, said PF leaders had let down the spirit of Michael Sata.
“(PF) You really have shown Zambians that you can steal and on top of that you have discarded what we started with Mr Sata. You have thrown overboard the spirit of pro-poor, this was our virtue and it kept us on our toes to see to it that Zambians can smile and we did see those signs of smiles on our people, alas the dark arm of death gave us thieving leaders as a replacement. However, I am confident that come 2021, we will be in safe hands,” Akafumba said.
He said it was no wonder that now levels of corruption, theft and disregard of the rule of law had penetrated most high offices of the land.
Akafumba, a former Southern Province PF chairperson, said the NDC, under Chishimba Kambwili, would ensure that Sata’s values were restored and even refined to better standards.
“We all gathered under Mr Sata believing that Zambians deserve better leadership than they were getting from the MMD. These values will be our cornerstone in the NDC under CK (Chishimba Kambwili). We believe that Zambians deserve better leadership than they are getting in the PF. We will restore the rule of law and confidence in public institutions such as the police, judiciary and civil service,” he said.
Akafumba appealed to workers, the youth, women and farmers to trust the NDC leadership.
“We are here not because we hate anyone in the PF but because we want the best for Zambians. We want a reduction in corruption, unemployment and a motivated worker who wakes up to go for work with a smile and hope of a secure job. We want a miner not fearing liquidation, we want journalists free and happy to report on issues as they happen and not to make a public media house a propaganda tool for PF,” said Akafumba.
