Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu says the Patriotic Front government has done more harm than good.
And it should be voted out in 2021.

This is a government one wishes had never been born.

In Matthew 26:24 we are told, “The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed. It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

That’s a sobering statement: it would be better for Judas to have not been born than betray Jesus. Why? It’s not just the betrayal of handing him over to the authorities. God could have forgiven Judas for that. He forgave Peter for denying Jesus. So why is it better to not have been born? Because Judas was condemned to hell forever for his sins. It’s better to not exist than to exist in hell forever. Therefore, it is true for all who will be condemned: it is better for them if they had never been born.

So what does this mean for us as Christians who intend to gospelize and make disciples?
Indeed, it would have been better if we never had an evil, ruthless and corrupt government like this Patriotic Front one of Edgar Lungu.

Whichever way one looks at it, this government has destroyed our country and ruined the lives of many Zambians.
It has destroyed our multiparty democracy and returned to the one party state by the backdoor. We are today a de facto one party state where people’s rights to associate, assemble and express themselves is totally at the discretion of Edgar and his minions. Opposition political parties and independent civil society organisations cannot be allowed to hold meaningful rallies, meetings, demonstrations or protests. It is only Edgar’s minions, cadres, supporters who can do so.

This Patriotic Front government of Edgar has destroyed our country’s economy – with poverty levels hitting 82.2 per cent in Western Province, 81.1 per cent in Luapula Province, 79.7 in Northern Province, 70 per cent in Eastern Province and 69.3 per cent in Muchinga Province. And today Zambia is the fourth hungriest country in world after Chad, Central African Republic and Madagascar.

Morally, the country has become bankrupt. Corruption, dishonesty, hypocrisy and intolerance have become the order of the day. And every day they are trying to hide their inequities in religious rhetoric and hypocrisy. But they are seen for what they truly are through their daily evil, cruel and satanic deeds.
Edgar and his minions are not different from Judas.

One man stands in infamy, alone on the stage of history as an object of derision and contempt. His name is so coloured, so tainted, that no one would ever think to name another child that same name. Judas.

His name alone brings to mind imagery of betrayal: furtive exchanges of money cloaked in the night, whispered plots of treachery, and a heart so clouded by darkness that he would go so far as to betray his closest friend with a kiss.
