UPND LED COUNCILS DIRECTED TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE OVER MANAGEMENT AND RUNNING OF COUNCIL INFRASTRUCTURE
The United Party for National Development, UPND has directed all its managed councils to immediately take over the running and management of markets, bus stops and other public places.
Local Government Committee deputy Chairperson Brian Ndumba says the directive should be implemented as an urgency and ensure that all thugs are removed regardless of political affiliation.
Mr. Ndumba who commended the Zambia police and Government for responding to calls from stakeholders which include the UPND said the party led councils should immediately work with the police in taking over the management of public places.
He is delighted at the action of the police in Lusaka that has led to the arrest of a known PF cadre who had self imposed him as the custodian of the Town – Apex route where he was charging K 30 per bus.
He said there is need for the restoration of sanity and order in trading places and allow councils perform their constitutional obligations.
