Davies Mwila

UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Members of Parliament have been pleading for funds from the government when they have been lying that they cannot work with us, Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary-General Davies Mwila has disclosed.

Mr Mwila said some UPND lawmakers had been flocking his office and various ministries crying for help despite lying to the public that they had no intentions to work with the PF government.

He disclosed that a named UPND Member of Parliament had been to his office for financial assistance.

Speaking when he received about 2, 042 defectors from UPND and MMD in Mufumbwe yesterday, Mr Mwila said the opposition MPs had informed him that they did want development in their constituencies.

“To say the truth these people have been coming to us asking for funds for development. The MP you voted for here in Mufumbwe has been coming to our offices to plead,” Mr Mwila said.

Mr Mwila said it was now time for the people of North-Western Province to do away with the UPND because they had nothing to offer.

He said UPND MPs’ action to plead for development showed the opposition political party had no money to deliver development which they had been promising in the Province.

“You have voted for Hakainde Hichilema five times, he has never even brought any single thing for appreciation but as government we have brought development here,” he said.

Mr Mwila said the people of North-Western Province should not continue to stick to the UPND if development could flourish.

Meanwhile Mr Mwila said he expected the general membership to endorse President Edgar Lungu at the general conference next year.

He said it was only President Lungu who can drive the development of the country, stating that he had shown the eagerness to work for the Zambians since he was voted in power. He also appealed to party members in the province to continue mobilsing

  1. It is sad that a PF SG sees Zambian Government money for development as PF government money. This PF SG needs to understand that in a functioning multiparty democracy, there is no PF government money. Opposition MPs, PF MPs and ordinary citizens are all entitled to demand for Zambian Government money allocated for various development purposes in the budget. Dont continue irritating Zambian people with your ” PF Kasaka kandama” mentality. Sad that PF is turning Zambia back to the old days of UNIP’s Party and Its Government PIG) state. Why should an SG for a ruling party think money budgeted for development using tax payers money is PF government money? When opposition MPs go to relevant government ministries and departments to access development support, why should PF be the one to decide whether the money for development can be released or not? So this SG for PF has given himself a role of approving use of Government approved budgets? What a sad state of affairs!!!

  2. I thought they were asking for personal funds. If it is government funds they are in order. Government money is not for PF. It is money for Zambian people. We do not need to plead for the money.

  3. Listening to Mwila, one would start doubting his viral Six Points at grade twelve in old age, does Mwila understand that development is driven by government and not individuals, does Mwila understand that it is the responsibility of government to take development to all corners of a country, Just last week Mwila was ranting that in spite of people voting for Hakainde he has not taken development to their areas, Looking at the thinking in that head it is either the SG is smoking something with very high strains of toxicity or his upbringing had a lot of problems hence warping his thinking capacity though leaving room for the proverbial six points at grade twelve in old age, my God, this man is a statue in the head.

  4. MPs from the opposition do not need to plead for resources to develop their constituencies. It is the responsibility of government to develop all constituencies. If there is no development in areas with MPs from the opposition it is a sign that PF in government has failed.

Mwila, the money your party is administering is not PF money. It is from tax payers both in Zambia and donor countries. Your thinking is retrogressive. Check yourself and make sure you are not contributing to idiotic narrative that is becoming a PF trait.

  5. Who is the MP for Chipili? Mr Mwila should have been the one to take development in Chipilli when he’s in government. But even in government he lost his seat to an independent.
