UPND’s Chindwale Ward aspiring candidate, Jennifer Phiri successfully filed in her nominations at Katumba Primary School, Katete, Eastern Province, this afternoon.
Speaking to the media shortly after filling in her nominations, Mrs Phiri expressed joy and gratitude to the people of Chindwale and the UPND for giving her a chance to contest as a Councillor for the area.
She said she would ensure that she properly represents the people of when elected as area Councillor by ensuring that she advocated for empowerment of local farmers and urging for expedited distribution of farming inputs and the sinking of boreholes in the area.
And UPND Chairperson for Agriculture and Water Development, Levy Ngoma said it was disheartening that the PF has opted to live a lavish lifestyle at the expense of poor Zambians who can’t afford to have clean drinking water or access to quality education.
Meanwhile, UPND National Youth Information and Publicity Secretary, Samuel Ngwira warned the PF to refrain from violence in the forthcoming election or face the wrath of retaliation from the UPND.
He also appealed to the electoral governing body, the Electoral Commission of Zambia ( ECZ) to be impartial in conducting the election so that it could reflect the will of the people of Chindwale ward.
He also called on the police to be professional in their conduct during the campaigns by ensuring that all perpetrators of violence were brought to book irrespective of their party affiliation.
Chindabwe ward, situated about forty kilometers from Katete District and has Kamchunju, Katumba and Kandiwo Reformed Church polling stations with a total number of 1, 600 registered voters according to the 2016 Voter’s Register.
