Since the formation of UPND in 1998 by Anderson Mazoka, the Tonga speaking people of Southern Province have always voted for a Tonga candidate.
The first time Mazoka vied for presidency in 2001, all Tongas lumped their votes on him because he was their tribesman.
When Mazoka was leading Levy Mwanawasa of the MMD in 2001, Tongas took to the streets and celebrated his (Mazoka) imaginary victory.
Some Tongas went to an extent of closing down public offices and illegally taking over offices. They shared positions and plotted to deal with non – Tongas who were occupying such offices.
The entire city of Lusaka was characterised with deafening Tonga noises as Mazoka came close to winning. On public buses, Tonga passengers made their presence felt by speaking in deep Tonga voices.
A Tonga soldier in Chipata forcefully confiscated door keys from a Zanaco bank manager and installed himself as a manager only to wait for Mazoka to be confirmed as President of the Republic of Zambia.
When the tables turned in favour of Mwanawasa, some Tongas ended up in prison for criminal trespass. The Tonga soldier in Chipata immediately lost his job while others were jailed on high treason.
If they (Tongas) could behave like possessed men and women with an imaginary President, what would become of Zambia if Hakainde Hichilema (God forbid) wins as President of Zambia? They would even impose Citonga as the official language of our land.
All key government positions would be shared among Tongas. HH would be life President. Development can only be done in Southern Province. Their preoccupation would be to torment Bembas they always called thieves.
Zambia can slip into a genocidal conflict with non – Tongas especially Bembas being exterminated like an attempt was made in Monze, Choma and other towns in Southern Province to eliminate Bembas.
At the time Mazoka was dying, he had two Vice Presidents Sakwiba Sikota and Patrick Chisanga but the Tongas demanded that Hakainde Hichilema, a Tonga who at the time was living in South Africa be installed as successor. They said only a Tonga could replace Mazoka.
Zambians are more comfortable with non – Tonga President because of their liberal nature. They don’t discriminate.
This is why Hakainde Hichilema will never be President of Zambia because God loves Zambia.
