Zambian Strongman Champion, Paul Mwanza, has won first prize at the prestigious Arnold Classic Strongman competition held at Sandton Convention Center in South Africa.

Mwanza won the first prize in the heavily contested U105 ProAm category. The category had contestants from Iran, South Africa, Scotland, USA and Nigeria.

37 year old Mwanza had to lift a 310kg deadlift, do four reps of the 130Kg Viking press and carry weights of 140kg in each hand in the farmers walk to win the competition.

Mwanza, who is three times Zambia’s strongestman, also had to lift a 130kg log and carry a 400kg yoke for 19 meters in the grueling competition.

This is the third time Mwanza has competed in this prestigious competition named after former Mr Olympia, Actor and politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The international actor attended and graced the occasion in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In an interview, an elated Mwanza said he was very happy to win the heavily contested competition and appealed for governments will and sponsorship to enhance the sport in Zambia.
