MBABALA MAN GETS 36 MONTHS JAIL SENTENCE FOR STEALING FROM A FEMALE POLICE OFFICER
Theft from a Police officer’s house has landed a 30 year old farmer of Mbabala a three year jail sentence with hard labour.
This is in a case where Evans Mudenda stood charged with one count of burglary and theft contrary to the laws of Zambia.
According to the statement of offense, on 31st January, 2021, as the complainant was sleeping while snoring with saliva dripping from her mouth, Mudenda surreptitiously tiptoed his way into the house of Margret Moyo.
Despite having a glance of Moyo’s charming body draped in a sexy night dress which was covering most body essentials as it lay peacefully and partly uncovered on a double bed, Mudenda could not get intimately distracted as he decided to go for a 25Kg bag of mealie meal and some assorted shoes.
And so that he could catch up with Nguzu’s exploits with over five ravishing women in Mpali, Mudenda also decided to steal Moyo’s television set and decoder.
All the stolen goods were valued at K36, 000.
When called to take plea before Senior Resident Magistrate Peter Mungala, Mudenda pleaded guilty without giving justification for committing the crime.
According to the statement of facts, the complainant who is a police officer and trained for six months at Lilayi, secured her house before going to bed on the material day.
The following morning, as Moyo was yawning her way to the lavatory after what she thought was a good night’s rest, she could not believe her sleepy eyes as the living room was swept clean and with non of the above named items in it.
And during investigations, an underground investigator informed the police that the accused person was seen selling the stolen items in some compound.
Upon Mudenda’s arrest, goods only worth K3, 600 where recovered from the accused person.
In passing judgment, the court noted that there has been an increase in cases of breaking in Choma hence the need to send a strong message to would be offenders.
