As a ‘Pentecostal’ I have a lot of respect for our pastors. I believe that Pentecostal pastors thrive in the area of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Pentecostal pastors are quick to step in where there is oppression of some one by the devil. However, I have always wondered why our pastors are slow and the majority never step in to help or speak for those who are oppressed by their leaders.
There is deafening silence in matters of social or economic justice of the people. Even when people are maimed, brutalized or where leaders steal from the poor, ‘pentes’ are the last to say anything, if they say anything at all. If there are 10 church leaders supporting an oppressive or corrupt regime, almost certainly 9 of them will be our own.
The church must begin to be relevant to the people it leads otherwise it will start declining. Isaiah 1:17 says “Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”
